Hi, I'm Dave Whited

In the 1980s, Florian Pavard, a French economist introduced a concept he called Intergenerational Discounting. Essentially his idea was that “people are more motivated by immediate private rewards than by long-term, collective future benefits.”  In other words, we tend to underestimate our impact on future generations. I believe that to be true.

Unfortunately, We are not alone. We share those impacts with all creatures large and small.  Climate change, habitat loss, and species extinction are only a few results of intergenerational discounting.

As a landscape architect, I worked hard for decades to create sustainable designs that preserve and protect sensitive ecosystems on a local scale. As an artist and photographer, I'm driven to explore our world and capture images for us and for future generations.

I hope you enjoy what you see here.
